Rafael Benitez’s agent insists there has been no official approach from Chelsea and said the position would only be considered “once there is an offer”.

Reports in both the London Evening Standard and the Times have suggested Chelsea have lined up Benitez as a potential successor to Andre Villas-Boas.

The Spaniard is currently available, having been out of work since his brief spell at Inter Milan in 2010, and his impressive record in Europe may appeal to Blues owner Roman Abramovich.

However, Manuel Garcia Quilon – while ruling nothing out – says the Blues are yet to make any kind of approach at this stage.

“There is nothing official,” he said in the Daily Mirror. “It’s only media speculation and we have not been approached by Chelsea. We would only evaluate that possibility once there is an offer.”

He added: “Benitez’s priority is to coach in the Premier League.”

Villas-Boas has maintained that he retains the full support of Abramovich despite the club’s disappointing performance in the league and this week’s Champions League defeat to Napoli.
